JohnO'CONNORMr John O’Connor passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, at Willowbank Nursing Home in Burnley. John was born on April 16, 1952, in Wexford, Ireland, to the late Mr Bernard O’Connor and the late Mrs Elizabeth O’Connor. As a young child, John enjoyed fishing and playing with his siblings. At six years old, he moved to England with his family. John’s first job whilst he was still at school was a Saturday job at Temeperley’s. After finishing school, he worked at Waterside Factory on Burnley Road in Bacup. John has worked at various establishments around the Rossendale Valley throughout his life. He is best known for his job at Johnsons (Suttons) at Waterside Mill. John loved listening to Elvis Presley records, going on long drives to the countryside, good food, and was always the life and soul of any party or family gathering. John leaves behind his wife Margaret and his children Andrew, John, Terry, Adam, Nicola, Lisa, Sarah, and their partners, brothers James, Bernard, Michael, Anthony, and their partners, sisters Brigette, Marian, and their partners, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The funeral will be conducted by Fr Chris McGrane on Friday, May 28. There will be a service for immediate family only at St Mary’s Church in Bacup at 11am, and then a burial at Bacup/ Stacksteads Cemetery at 11.45am. People are more than welcome to pay their respects at the burial, but need to follow the latest social distancing guidelines. We would like to thank Willowbank Care Home Burnley, for their outstanding, compassionate care in John’s last few months. The family have asked for donations to be made to Willowbank Nursing Home via the funeral director. Flowers can be sent if wished. Funeral director: Graham Holt for Knight & Boys Funeral Service, Stacksteads.
