NinaODONNELLOf Burnley Road East, Waterfoot, passed away peacefully with her son and daughter by her side at Lilibet Manor Nursing Home on Thursday, December 21, aged 81 years. Born in Waterfoot, daughter of Nora and Stanley Morris (formerly Mrowczynski), Nina worked at Mullards after leaving school at Whitewell Bottom. She then went to work at Bacup Shoe, before having children and later became a cleaner and finally worked at Hirst’s Slipper works before retirement. Nina was an active member of St Peter’s Parish Church and loved singing in the choir for many years. She enjoyed numerous trips to Lublin over the years to visit her Polish relatives, who will miss her greatly. She spent her last four years living at Olive House Care Home in Bacup and was loved and cared for by all who looked after her until she needed nursing care in her final few weeks. Nina was a beloved wife to Peter, who sadly passed away in December 2022, and loving mother to Mark and Anne. She was also grandma to Sean and Oscar, whom she loved dearly. Nina will be greatly missed by her family and will be remembered by all who knew her for her endless kind gestures, infectious smile, and her warm and welcoming nature.
Her funeral will take place on Thursday, January 11 when a Requiem Mass will be held at St Peter’s RC Church, Newchurch at 10.45am Conducted by Fr Simon Stamp followed by a service and committal at Burnley Crematorium at 12.15pm.
