BrettO'LOUGHLINClayton born and bred gentle giant Mr Brett Ian O’Loughlin, aged 57, suddenly passed away in hospital on Wednesday, December 30. He was a devoted and loving dad to Lauren and Alex, cherished grandad of Ava and husband to Nicola. After leaving school Brett worked in numerous jobs, enjoyed being a builder, but his passion for aircraft and electronics led him to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the RAF aged 22. He served for 23 years, working his way up to a sergeant, enjoying every minute. He was proud to be a soldier and prouder to be called a veteran. Brett met many people before, during and after his service and has made many good friends, ones that have remained with him throughout his life. Brett and his family moved around and set up home wherever he was stationed. Following his service Brett worked at BAE systems until he took early retirement. A massive sports fan, especially rugby and football, Brett loved to watch the matches from the comfort of his home with a beer of course. He also loved to watch his son train and play rugby and was his biggest fan. He was a lifelong Burnley FC supporter and had the most impressive collection of signed programmes and tops. Most of all though Brett was a doting father and the most proud grandad of Ava. Due to current restrictions a private family funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, January 15 at 11am. The service will be live streamed for all those that are unable to attend. For login details contact Champs.
