Cynthia’s passing leaves a huge void in our community. Over many years she served tirelessly as a governor of Scholes J&I (where she became Chair while I was Vice‑Chair) and at several other local schools, always driven by her genuine care for children and staff alike. Cynthia was also a long-term and key member of FOSS - Friends of Scholes School - helping to organise countless events over the years with great enthusiasm. Whenever we needed to set a date for a meeting or plan an event, we always checked Cynthia’s diary first - normally full with other commitments.

I have known Cynthia for many years, firstly through her working at Carlton with my Dad, then to working with her for a few years again at Carlton J and I and then through her inviting me to judge children's artwork at the Honley show. After she retired, I loved catching up with her each year at the Honley show or calling in to see her at home for eggs and a glass of red. I will always remember her for being so hardworking and spritely, she never looked or acted her age! Sad news Cynthia, you will be missed by the many different people whose life you touched with your energy. Rachel Harrison
