The obituary notice of Professor John Bryn OWEN

John Owen was Head of Department when I was appointed to the staff at the School of Agriculture, as it then was, at the University College of North Wales. I have never forgotten his generosity and encouragement in my first university appointment, from 1983 to 1995. As Farm Director he had much involvement in and oversight of the trials I ran with dairy cows at the Aber farm, and it was with his support that I was able to establish an active research unit. His unfailing guidance, modesty and good humour are a lasting legacy that will always be remembered. I also recall how important his choir was to him, a pleasure I was only to discover after leaving Wales.
