I have very fond memories of Gerry from my childhood, he was always very kind and full of fun. Thinking of all his family at this sad time. Rest in peace. Xxx

Some fond memories over the last 30-something years: me being young, shy and naive and you going out of your way to make me resilient, your kindness and generosity, your beautiful smile even when the going got tough, your dry humour and your intellect when discussing complex topics with me and my children. My children didn't have grandfathers when growing up, but you were a perfect role model. Your unwavering love for Brenda and the vulnerability you showed when you called me in a panic from a motorway layby when Brenda had her operation. RIP.
