Alan was my cousin and we grew up together in Tavistock.

We had many adventures. - We had tin plates as "pretend" steering wheels, We would run around Whitchurch Down pretending we were driving cars. These "pretend" cars were more exciting than any real cars we owned in later life.

We made a trolley from pieces of wood and old pram wheels. We had a great time with that trolley, even when the wheels fell off.

Together, we attended Sunday School, Church and the Church Youth Club - under the influential leadership of "Skipper" David Pendock. We spent many enjoyable weekends under canvas.

I have many memories of Alan from those glorious early days. - These are memories that I treasure.
