PAPPJoszef Vincent Of Swadlincote, Derbyshire passed peacefully Saturday January 31st 2015 at the Jason Hylton Court Nursing Home, Wilmot Road, Swadlincote. Beloved husband of Norma, father of Michael, daughter-in-law Wendy and grandchildren Piroska and Miklos. Joe was born in Budapest, Hungary, March 11th 1929, working with the Hungarian Railways and the Hungarian Air Force. Due to the Hungarian Revolution he left Hungary in 1956 leaving his parents and a number of siblings that unfortunately he was not to see again due to restrictions placed upon by the Soviets. Arriving in Britain Christmas 1956, not speaking a word of English, he was accommodated by the British Government with the usual weekly then quarterly visits to the police station. This continued for approximately four years while he worked with Sugar Beet production and gradually learning English. During this period he met his future wife Norma marrying her in 1959 with their son, Michael, being born in 1960 and settling in the Nottingham area. During the 70's he started his own business principally rewinding electrical motors but also providing other electrical engineering services and became a UK Citizen during this time. He was a remarkably talented and caring man overcoming numerous adversities, both physical and circumstantial, to provide his family with a happy and secure life, something he unfortunately did not get to enjoy during his early years. Thanks are provided to all at the Queens Hospital in Burton for the care they provided over the last several years with his ailments and issues. Thanks and gratitude especially to Laura, David, Ryan and James White of Church Gresley for their never ending support and care they provided my Father during his last few years. Michael D Papp (Son)
