JeanPAPWORTHof Milton Close, Helmshore, passed away at Pendleside Hospice on Wednesday, March 15, aged 90.
She spent her early life at Rising Bridge and became the beloved wife of late husband Alan with whom she spent almost 68 years. She leaves her sons Craig and partner Jacqui, Ian and his late wife Catherine, grandson Daniel, granddaughter Rachael and her husband Adam, and great granddaughter Lucy.
Jean had various jobs during her career and latterly worked as a receptionist for Marsland’s Opticians in Haslingden before her retirement. She also spent several years in Malawi in the early 1980s when Alan was working there as a Chartered Engineer before returning to Helmshore where she spent the rest of her life. Jean had many friends in the area and was a staunch member of St Thomas Church, Musbury. She was a keen supporter of Haslingden Cricket Club and accompanied Alan at matches and social events during his involvement with the club spanning many years. Most of all, she loved to spend time with her grandchildren and was overjoyed when great granddaughter Lucy was born in December 2023.
Jean’s funeral will be conducted by Fr David Stephenson on Tuesday, April 2, at 12.30pm at St Thomas Church Musbury, followed by a cremation at Accrington.
Family flowers only, with donations if desired to Diabetes UK and Pendleside Hospice.
