MichaelPATTONMr Michael John Patton passed away in hospital, with family by his side, on Sunday, March 6, aged 75. He was the much loved brother of Gillian and Andrew, uncle of Clare, Janet, Kathryn and Simon, great-uncle of Jack, Phoebe, Lea, Tom, Aiden, Jasper and Imogen, and brother-in-law of Frank and Jayne. Born in Accrington, Michael’s school days were spent at the Central Preparatory School and Accrington Grammar School, after which he was proud to join Jas Broadley’s printing works, in Clayton-le-Moors, where he was well-liked by all in the office, on the shop floor, and by his many contacts around the world. Friendships forged during this time have lasted until this day. More recently, Michael enjoyed walking in the local area and, bus pass in hand, exploring further afield across Lancashire and into Yorkshire. A keen cyclist from his youth, Michael was still riding up to 70 miles some days until quite recently. He enjoyed weekly visits to family and shared their annual holidays, spending his spare time reading, listening to music and watching classic films. A polite and gentle man, he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Michael’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Monday, March 21 at 2.20pm.
