I have just heard the sad news of Steve’s passing. I was the first head of the Crown Prosecution Service in Plymouth. Steve was one of the best police officers I ever worked with and one of the nicest people I have ever known. How fortunate are all of us who knew Steve.

Am really saddened to learn that Steve has passed away. I first encountered him in his capacity acting for the Lord Lt.'s office and subsequently coincidentally met him at other events from time to time. A very pleasant, fair-minded and engaging individual. I concur with a lot of what has been said in other tributes on this page. Sadly I have only learned of his passing today and hence missed attending the funeral, but I am not surprised to hear that it was so well attended that some people had to watch the service from a reception room. It speaks volumes of the impact he had on the lives of others. RIP Steve.
