I have just come across this article and really very sad to read of Gwen’s passing. I was a close friend of both Gwen and Keith for many years from 1997 meeting them in Glossop with their love of aquariums our friendship blossomed and continued through many moves around the country.
We even holidayed in Cyprus and have lots of wonderful memories.
From our first trip to the Oscar Hotel where we were also joined by Gwenda father in law (Keith dad) Peter.
We had such a laugh over the years and they both took me under their wing.
We sadly lost touch a few years back which I sadly regret.
Gwenda loved life and everyone in it.
An amazing lady who will never be forgotten.
Our thoughts are with Keith Perdue and Family.
Rest in peace Gwen

Gwenda was a remarkable woman, always optimistic, positive and well organised. She would have lists for everything, not just shopping but anything she had to do such as spring cleaning and gardening.
Gwenda was also very impetuous and wherever she or I lived would always come and visit somehow. In 1975 we moved to Wick in the far north of Scotland and Gwenda and Keith lived in Swanton Morley. They had a very old banger but nevertheless set off to visit us, stopping off overnight at Mum and Dad’s in Oldham. The following morning after they left very early, Dad noticed Gwenda had left her handbag behind. Still in his pyjamas he set off to follow them only catching up with them on the M6, north of Carnforth. On the same trip they got stopped by the police as the car was displaying ‘L’ plates and Gwenda was driving. She was pleased to explain to the officer that she was the one with a licence and her husband Keith was the learner. Previous to that visit she travelled alone by train and not knowing where we lived she went straight to the police station to enquire after David. When it came to travelling, nothing phased her.

Gwenda made friends with everyone she met including the foreign staff on the cruise ships, so much so that every time they got on board they were met with hugs and smiles.

Gwenda may have been friends to many people but to me she was more than just a sister, she was my special friend and soul-mate.

Goodnight Gwenda and God Bless.

Such a wonderful caring and loving Aunty. As you did with everyone, always checking up on us and seeing how we were doing. Lived a life full of love and adventure and an inspiration to me.
I’ll always remember our family holiday together when we visited you both at Bruggen and travelled down to the Mosel. Which I left you floating down in a rubber dinghy when I dived overboard to retrieve a lost oar! Uncle Keith reminded me that we could replace a lost oar but not an Aunty Gwen! How true this is. Always in my thoughts Aunty Gwen. Love you xx

From John Huntingdon

Gwenda, what a brave soul you were having studied your options and accepted the prospects that would unfold you prepared and planned with calm and dignity the time you had left.
Well Gwenda, when you reach the end of your journey to the new world, when you come to that door and see that man up there and he asks you what wonderful things you had in this life, don't forget to tell him you are a great cook and never held back trying new recipes and yes, you may have to tell him that things didn't always go to plan yet he may just say we have a job for you, come through.
So Gwenda we're so sad to lose you, you'll always be in our thoughts till we follow you on the same journey, goodbye my friend.
