AlanPILKINGTONIt is with great sadness that we announce that Alan passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, aged 78 years.

The beloved husband of Sandra and much-loved grandad of Amy, brother to Frank, brother-in-law to Elaine, Graham, Anne, Tim and Georgina and uncle to Joanna, Stuart, Glenn, Antony, Andrea, Stephen, Claire and families.
Alan and Sandra had been married for 55 years, first meeting in Clayton when Alan was just 18 and Sandra was 16.

Alan started an apprenticeship in English Electric and after various job changes, finally ended his working career at Parkers Engineering, Accrington before retiring at the age of 65.
Hobbies included fishing and photography which Alan excelled at, he also enjoyed family caravan holidays, making many friends along the way. He loved nothing more than walking the dogs, chatting to other holidaymakers, enjoying the occasional drink or two. He will be greatly missed by family, friends and ex-work colleagues.

Alan’s family wish to express their thanks for the excellent care given to him throughout his illness, especially the management and staff at Wellfield House in Accrington.

A service is to be held at the Accrington Crematorium on Thursday, September 19, at 9.40am, followed by a reception at the Whitakers Arms.

Family flowers only. Donations, in Alan’s memory, to Motiv8-lancs CIC, would be gratefully received. They can be made via
