JackPILLINGMR Jack Pilling, of Deerplay Rest Home, Weir, Bacup, died on Thursday, September 12, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 95. Before moving to Deerplay Rest Home Jack lived at Barker Court, Bacup and before that lived for 50 years with his beloved wife Peggy (deceased) in Weir. He had a full working life in a variety of factories across Rossendale and Burnley. He loved the outdoors and sunny weather. He was also an avid reader and liked doing crosswords and puzzles. He reminisced and told stories of his time in the army, being a veteran of the Second World War. He served in Burma where he was wounded on his 20th birthday. Husband of late wife Peggy who died 13 years ago and sibling to the late Betty, Jean and Jim and surviving sister Dorothy in Australia. He also leaves nieces Anne, Carol, Lesley and Janet, nephews Stuart, John, Leslie, Ian, Malcom, David and Brian. He leaves good friend Denise and many other friends. A cortege left Knight and Boys Funeral Home, Bacup, on Tuesday, September 24, before a Celebration of Life service at Burnley Crematorium. Funeral director: Paul Swarbrick, Knight and Boys Funeral Services. 300 Newchurch Road, Bacup.
