Mum would often take them into town and spoil them all rotten (not telling granddad of course!). She would often be found in a card shop, for some reason she loved to buy the most beautiful and expensive cards in the shop!
She also had very expensive taste in perfume, Chanel no 5, and even up until her last days regularly asked for new bottles as she seemed to bathe in the stuff! I think dad cried every time she would run out!
Mum loved to have all the family round and was known for her legendary Buffets, she seemed to cook for an army and not forgetting those meat patties, a recipe passed down from grandma.
During her recent years Mum had to move into Hartley Park nursing home , where we have to say they looked after mum very well , we know she frequently asked to go home and missed Dad so very much . Despite this she loved nothing more than to have visitors , she loved to see her friends and family .
I know we will all miss Mum, especially dad, and more than she will never know.
We are truly heartbroken and wished we had more time to show her how much we loved her and to share the memories that are to come. We can only cherish the times we shared and remember how much she made us all smile. Mum continue to be the star we know you are.
Night mum, we love you so much sorry you had to leave so soon.

whom she doted on, this enabled her to return to work safe in the knowledge that Grandma would have a batch of pasties and buns waiting on her return. We went to Pilgrim Primary school where mum enjoyed the friendship of Mary and Lizzie, and had an active and fulfilling social life with them!
Mum and dad raised us in Neswick street, Stonehouse and did a grand job, we know that mum was always proud that us “inner city” kids turned out well. We have many fond memories of Frederick street school holiday club where we know mum made lots of friends .

Mum would often look forward to holidays, and these were always a source of enjoyment for her apart from when Richard helped himself to the Sangria at a welcome BBQ in France and got very inebriated!!
She positively encouraged Richard and Rebecca to embrace their Pool skills on holidays and was always dishing out 100 pesetas for the pool table, whilst she and dad tidied the rooms or something?!
Throughout her life mum unfortunately suffered with more than her fair share of ill health; let’s not forget her bad back, we remember having to strap mum into her corset and from then on was always a little wonky , I know Debbie remembers kicking over her catheter and drains after her back operation.
Unfortunately Mum and dad were not able to enjoy retirement as they had planned to do so. They had previously enjoyed trips to Italy, Switzerland, Germany and breaks with penny bars. There was nothing more she liked than a vodka and coke for 1p.
Mum had such a nurturing nature, kind, considerate and always wanted the best for her family and friends.
When her grandchildren came along, she was so over the moon to be a grandma; she had always wanted to be just like her mum. She took every opportunity to look after them and they all remember her baking, bus trips and cheese sandwiches cut into special shapes and not forgetting her cuddles. They say she was amazing which we would have to agree.

Tribute for mum
Mum was born on the 27th of July, 1951, and lived with her mum and dad; Joan and Ernest Brown in St Levans road and many years in Limerick Place, St Judes.
As an independent young woman she worked at the Falcon pub where she met her loving husband John who she was married to for 46 years.
Prior to her marriage to Dad, Mum was often looking up dates and times that the naval ships would be docking at Raleigh so she and her friend could make new sailor aquaintances, always in a mini skirt and bleached blonde hair. She must have had a thing for men in uniform because you may not believe it now but Dad was a dashing young soldier!!
Mum later gained employment at Bowyers factory as an office clerk, she then went on to her days at NOP Market research where she met her lifelong friend Debbie, they were often found reminiscing about old stories which sounded like they had far too much fun at work. Mum was well versed in office banter by all accounts and was once responsible for making a poor welsh chap boil his milk over; Debbie and mum continued to laugh about this story and I bet she is now. One can only imagine what was said!
The significant portion of her working life was spent in the employ of Plymouth City Council. Her original contract was for 6 weeks, this led into many years up until her retirement. Dad had to convince her to give it up even then, despite often having many difficult customers and experiences. We never did envy her job but mum always managed each day with that smile we all remember.
Whilst the work could be trying and stressful for her; mum loved the company and support of her close work friends; some who we know would have loved to have been here today to pay their respects and give her the send-off she truly deserves.
Rich arrived in 1978 after 4 years of marriage and only having Tammy the cat to look after, and Rebecca in 1980 and the family was complete. With the support of Grandma;
