Patricia AnnPLUMBRIDGE MBEOr the Duchess of Newlyn as she was affectionately known, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday 4th July 2023 aged 97 years. Pat had been such a key part of the Newlyn scenery for as long as many can remember, a bubbly, effervescent character who always had a smile and a cheery word for anyone. Pat, the former landlady of The Fishermans Arms in Newlyn, a keen entertainer and a massive part of Newlyn was presented with the MBE by Princess Anne, an honour that had been bestowed on her in the late Queen's 2020 birthday honours list, she will be so sadly missed. Pat's funeral service will be held at St Peter's Church in Newlyn on Wednesday 19th July starting at 11.30am followed by cremation. Pat has requested that everyone should wear items of colourful clothing to the service and if you have anything sparkly that would be particularly welcome. The hearse will make its way through Newlyn at walking pace to the church so those who may not be able to make the service will get a chance to say a final farewell as Pat leaves her home for the last time. In line with Pat's wishes, no flowers at the service please, but a donation for the RNLI Penlee Lifeboat will be received in her memory by retiring collection or c/o the funeral director, Jeremy Burt, Peakes of Tolcarne, The Old Surgery, Newlyn, TR18 5PR.
