Jim and I were boyhood friends. We grew up together in Caversham and spent a number of years as pals in the scouts. We played football together for St Anne’s Youth Club. Jim ( or Po) was such good fun - always in good humour and always positive. I remember summer days spent out and about with Jim and the kindness of his mother in their house on Donkin Hill. We drifted apart when Jim left scouts and I left Reading for university in Sheffield. My condolences to all Jim’s family and friends. Jim Pocock lives on I’m my memory as a bright, smiling star of my youth: a loyal and cheerful friend and companion.
