ViviennePROCTORIt is with great sadness that the family of Vivienne Proctor announce her passing peacefully at her home in Montreal, Canada, at the age of 83.
Born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, in 1943, Vivienne was a much-loved mother to Michael, (Arlette) and Alexandra, (Ian), proud grandmother to Thomas, Harry, Massimo, Charlie and Stella, and a treasured aunt to Matthew and Andrew. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Norah, her beloved sister, Alison, and David, with whom she shared many happy years raising their family.
After beginning family life in Messingham, in the early 1970s, Vivienne later made her home in Winterton in 2001, before embracing a new chapter with her move to Montreal in 2014.
A dedicated educator, Vivienne began her career as a Home Economics teacher, quickly establishing a reputation for her leadership, enthusiasm and commitment to her students. She taught at Thomas Sumpter Comprehensive School and other local schools before spending the majority of her career at John Leggott College, where she was instrumental in expanding support and opportunities for students with learning and physical disabilities. Her warmth, encouragement and belief in others made a lasting difference to generations of students and colleagues.
Vivienne embraced life with enthusiasm, kindness and a spirit of adventure. Whether travelling the world, supporting family and friends, or building new communities in England and later Canada, she formed lifelong friendships wherever she went. Her philosophy was simple: "Give it a go" and "Take time to smell the roses."
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her generosity, wisdom, friendship and love.
An intimate celebration of Vivienne's life will take place in Montreal. The family also plans to return to England in the summer of 2027 to hold a gathering for family and friends to come together, share memories and celebrate the remarkable life she lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Vivienne may be made to Lincolnshire House, Scunthorpe, which provides residential, day and respite care services for adults with Cerebral Palsy and similar disabilities, a cause that reflected Vivienne's lifelong commitment to supporting others.
Forever remembered and always loved.
