Yellow Ashes
One year on, we remember,
Join me in a little prayer,
Look up to the sky and pray,
To whatever you believe is there...
We join together in hand and heart,
To say a prayer for you,
May your soul have found peace,
And your spirit be true.
Let us celebrate the life you led,
And the gift you left us all.
Now three generations live,
Within four very special walls.
Let us be grateful the pain ended for you,
Instead of pining over our own.
Let us be thankful and find comfort,
In knowing you weren't alone.
Let us look into the garden,
Where so many memories were made,
Let it bloom with flowers and life,
So the memories never fade.
Let it be a sanctuary,
With the past and future blended,
A safe haven for us all,
As you both always intended.
Let us feel a warmth within us,
Knowing you're reunited,
And the feeling of holding hands again,
You must have been delighted.
Let us not dwell on loss itself,
Let us not focus on the sad,
Let us remember the happy moments,
And be grateful for the time we had.
We pray for those we've lost,
For their souls to be blessed.
We pray for the family's grief,
To become a little less.
A year ago, sadness overwhelmed the heart,
The night changed us forever,
But out of the ashes, roses can grow,
And it brought us closer together.
