KathQUINNMrs Kathleen Quinn - known as Kath - sadly passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 5, at the age of 66, with her husband Ray and her sister Maureen by her side. Kath’s first job was as a dog-groomer at a shop in Blackburn. After she met her husband Ray, she began working for Joseph Arnold and Webb Ivory in Accrington before also working at Marks & Spencer in the town. The couple then went on to own a newsagents in Accrington, following on from which they ran market stalls in Nelson and Colne. Kath finally retired in 2015 after working for B.T. in Blackburn. Kath’s hobbies included going to the gym, gardening and cooking. She also loved going away in their touring caravan when Jodie, their border collie, was alive, but later enjoyed holidays abroad in Tenerife and Turkey. Kath attended St John’s Church in Baxenden and was actively involved in various groups for a number of years. She enjoyed many happy hours with family and friends and felt so blessed to have shared her life with Ray, Maureen, Robert, Ian, Michelle, Amelia, Edward (Ted), Harry and Willow (their dog) and Karen, Scott and their dog Ayla. Kath was the daughter of the late John and Freda Scott, wife of Ray and sister to Maureen, sister-in-law to Robert, auntie to Ian and Michelle, and Karen and Scott and great-auntie to Amelia, Edward and Harry. Kath’s funeral will be held at 11am on Friday, July 16, at Accrington Crematorium, led by Rev. Stephen Brown. Family flowers only please, however donations can be made in memory of Kath to Macmillan Cancer Support c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
