RANDALL LEWIS"Bright and charismatic" head teacher, Randall Lewis, died on 10 January, 2009.
He was head at Round Hill Primary School, in Beeston, Nottingham, and tributes were paid by colleagues and the chairman of governors.
He passed away aged 55 after suffering from a heart condition. He was being transferred to a more specialist unit following treatment at Nottingham’s City Hospital.
Acting head Steve Jones said: "I knew Randall from working at other schools, he also passed on his experience and knowledge through the National College of School Leadership.
"One of Randall’s biggest strengths was that he was so good with people, he would make excellent relationships and would make people feel confident and that they were able to do a fantastic job."
Brian Taylor, chairman of governors, said: "Randall was a very bright and charismatic leader of this school and loved by the children, the staff are devastated and we had counseling ready for some of the children after morning assembly.
"He will also be sorely missed by the community.
"Randall’s passions included music and his country of Wales – he loved the rugby, he also played a bit of football and was goalkeeper for Gotham I believe.
"He loved playing in his band and could perform a great rendition of Stephen Stills."
During his tenure at Round Hill Primary School, which begun in 1998, the experienced head teacher helped oversee the amalgamation of Carsick Primary School, in Sutton-in-Ashfield, of the former Carsick infant and junior schools.
Mr Lewis was also head at Sycamore Junior School, in St Ann’s and Mapperley Plains Primary School, having started his career teaching PE in Calverton.
A keen musician, he was also president of Beeston Musical Theatre Group since 2005.
Its chairman Stuart Veitch said: "Randall was a lovely guy and he was tremendously supportive of us, we work very closely with the school where we still rehearse, it’s a shock he has gone."
