You were the quintessential Grandma in every way. Loving, caring, warm. I have so many cherished memories with you, yet at the same time, nowhere near enough. Long walks to Dunstanburgh, countless trips to Bamburgh beach and the Copper Kettle. These memories will never leave me. I wish we had lived nearer so I could have spent more time with you. What I wouldn't give to just sit with you in the lounge one more time, with the Aga blazing in the middle of summer. While returning to England always felt like coming home, I cant help but think that feeling will be greatly diminished now that you arent there. I love you Grandma

Mum was a wonderful caring person throughout her life, always thinking of others, never herself.
Somehow she managed to survive bringing up 4, occasionally rambunctious, boys who did little to support her self confidence at the time so her singing went by the wayside.
It was only in my late teens that I realized how lucky I was, when she would volunteer that we go to Karen's for Christmas after lunch or New Years eve as she knew it would be more fun than watching BBC reruns in a methodist home.
While Dad is always my mental guide for doing things right, Mum will always be my guide for caring and doing the right things.

I am still amazed that Mom lasted as long as she did after Dad died and can only credit that miracle to the incredible support that she received from Stephen who, in keeping with Mum's example, selflessly gave up the last 3 years to look after her. I will always be in your debt for this Stephen.

I can now just focus on remembering the great times we had when Mum and Dad came over to spend Summers with our boys, providing them with the love and support only grandparents know how to give.

Mum is now with her Jack having scones at the Dobbies in the sky.

Miss you Mum
