AnnRAWCLIFFEOn Tuesday, March 21, Ann passed away peacefully at The Royal Blackburn Hospital aged 85 years. Ann began her career as a secretary at the Coal Board in Huncoat. She taught evening classes in Accrington and Rossendale College in the 70s and later undertook teaching training at Bolton College to become a qualified shorthand and typing teacher working at Accrington & Rossendale College. She was based at both the Sandy Lane and Blackburn Road Site. She stayed there until her retirement, becoming a senior lecturer in the Business Studies Department. Ann was a member for many years of Immanuel and All Saints Churches in Oswaldtwistle, where she was an active member of both the Mothers Union and PCC for over 30 years, serving as treasurer and as a churchwarden. She was recognized for this service in 2014 when she received Maundy Money from the Queen at Blackburn Cathedral. Together with Ken her late husband, Ann enjoyed walking and travelling, especially to Menorca and Lanzarote. They took numerous Mediterranean Cruises, one of which they took the whole family to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Wife of the late Ken, mother of Diane and the late Graham, nana to Christian and Rebecca, and grandma to Matthew and Alex, mother-in-law to Paul and Anne-Marie. Sister-in-law to Christine and aunty to Keely. She also leaves many dear friends. The service will be held on Thursday, April 6 at 10.30am at Immanuel Church, New lane, Oswaldtwistle, followed by burial at Immanuel.
