Glenys AnnRAYNERGlenys passed away peacefully in Bristol Royal Infirmary after some months of declining health. She was born in Wells and moved to Bristol after WW2. She was a clever child and won a scholarship to be a Boarder at Red Maids' - now Red Maids' High School. She originally trained as a Nursery Nurse but did not pursue this, preferring a variety of roles in administration and account management. Glenys enjoyed going to the theatre and frequently attended performances at the Tobacco Factory and the Theatre Royal. She loved cats and dogs though had none of her own but in her later years had a second career as a pet and house-sitter. Glenys will be sadly missed by her cousins Anita, Patricia and Pauline and by her many friends, including Sylvia, Albert, Mark, Andrew and Chris and by her neighbours in Calcott Road. Her funeral is at Westerleigh Crematorium - the Woodland Chapel on Tuesday 4th July at 11.30 am and afterwards at her friend Chris's home. No flowers by request, but donations in lieu if desired to Bristol Dogs and Cats Home or Dementia UK can be left in the retiring collection, or sent c/o Cottons & Sons. All enquiries to:- Cotton & Sons Funeral Directors Stapleton Road, Easton, Bristol. BS5 0NN. Tel: 0117-951-0744

I was cast in many seasons of the Tobacco Factory shows and the one person we could always rely on to be our biggest supporter was Glenys. She was always there in the front row beaming along and was always there for a drink in the bar afterwards. She remains vivid in my memory. Her passion for our shows and Shakespeare always amazed me. She was part of our extended family. She will be missed.
