I am so sorry to read of John's passing and offer my condolences to Penny and her family. John was a good pal when we were lads in Midway and I enjoyed reading his several books about Swad shops, cinemas etc. It was good to have met him again a couple of years ago. Mick Wells

What a loss to everyone who knew John. A ready wit, a gentleman and a gentle man. He was a wonderful colleague whose wisdom and guidance I valued greatly. Erudite and knowledgeable, but his way of imparting all that he knew was inclusive and it was a joy to listen and learn.
