BruceREIDBruce Lestock Ironside REID died unexpectedly at home on Friday 5th October 2018 at the age of 83. He was the much-loved father of Kate and Rob Reid, husband of the late Wendy Reid, and grandfather to Finn, James, Thomas, Louis and Felix. His funeral will be at 10.15 on Tuesday 23rd October at Leatherhead Crematorium followed by a gathering at Firenze restaurant in Leatherhead town centre, his most recent regular lunch haunt. His family are collecting for the Greenpeace, a charity that was close to his heart. Originally from New Zealand, Bruce had lived in England for over fifty years and had resided in Leatherhead since 1978. Having graduated in engineering at university in New Zealand where he also learnt to fly planes with the NZ airforce, he became a management consultant in London, working for IT services company Hoskyns, later Cap Gemini. Bruce was always at his happiest at the barbeque with a glass of wine in his hand. He became well-known for hosting large parties for friends and neighbours to coincide with the annual Leatherhead Carnival. He was a keen photographer and loved spending time in the South of France. He had a big spirit, a big heart and was always quick to laugh. He greatly missed his wife Wendy who died in March 2011 and he will now also be sadly missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him.
