Thomas BurnsREIDThomas Burns Reid of Dunfermline, Fife, also a long-time resident of Guildford, Surrey, entered into the care of Our Lord peacefully at home on 1st June, 2021. Born on 1st November, 1939 to John and Ann Reid of Lochgelly, Fife, Tom was the devoted and much loved husband of May Reid and the loving father of Tommy, Colette and Christopher; father-in-law of Christina and Tina; and the best grandfather in the world to Sophie and Anna Reid, Hannah, Isobel and Monica Martin and Michael and Daniel Reid. He is also survived by his brother Harry Reid and sister Mary Robertson. Tom's love and support for his family was boundless and he taught us to see the face of Christ in all humanity. In addition, he devoted his life to sharing his gifts of wisdom, optimism and compassion with so many in need, both through the Roman Catholic church he followed faithfully throughout his life and the hospital and homeless organizations to which he gave so much in both Scotland and England. A requiem mass will be celebrated in his honour at St. Margaret's RC Memorial Church in Dunfermline on 12th June, 2021 to be followed by a service at Kirkcaldy Crematorium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to express sympathy consider making a donation to Aid to the Church in Need (acnuk.org/get-involved/donate/) or to a charity of their choice that supports the homeless.
