Colin JohnRHODESPassed away peacefully on 18th November 2022 aged 86. Colin spent his formative years in Plymouth during WWII, and true to the spirit of this life, he always recalled those years as a time of adventure, whether it be a Messerschmitt skimming the top of his school bus or a UXB in the back garden. He went on to serve in the RAF and was posted in Aden during the 1950s. He then spent time in the Merchant Navy as a navigator before marrying and settling down to have a family. His interest in history led to a career as an antiques dealer. He built a reputation over 30 years as one of the most knowledgeable dealers in the area and owned a well-known antiques shop on the Barbican. He will be missed as a loving husband, father and big hearted character by all who met him. He is survived by his wife, Rosalie, three children, Richard, Peter and Elisabeth and six grandsons. A funeral service will take place at St. Werburgh's Church, Wembury on Friday 2nd December at 3pm Family flowers only please and donations, in memory of his love of birds, to the RSPB at Justgiving (or search on www.justgiving.com, "Colin Rhodes") or online at wyattbrothers.co.uk.
