RICHARD LARKINLance Corporal Richard Larkin, aged 39, was one of four soldiers killed by a roadside explosion while on operations in Afghanistan on 17 June, 2008. He was with the TA SAS 23 Brigade.
L/Cpl Larkin, Corporal Sarah Bryant, Corporal Sean Robert Reeve and Paul Stout died near Lashkar Gah, the capital of the Helmand province, on 17 June, 2008, when their vehicle, a Snatch Landrover, was caught by an explosion. A fifth soldier was wounded by the blast.
The deaths brought the number of British troops killed in Afghanistan since operations began there in 2001 to 106.
L/Cpl Larkin's family released the following statement: "Lance Corporal Richard Larkin was a beloved husband, father, son and brother whose tragic and untimely death will be deeply mourned by his family, friends and colleagues."
