Very sorry to have just heard.

I remember “Doc” Richards with great fondness. He taught me Chemistry both in the lower school and in the sixth form. He was a talented teacher, making his lessons enjoyable and making Chemistry easy to understand.
I very clearly remember two of his favourite sayings:
“Nothing succeeds like excess” as he’d carefully measure out 2g of a chemical then add a bit more for fun.
And “If this experiment goes wrong, I will lead the way to the door”

What a lovely man he was!
