In memory of much loved Joan Richards, and also in memory of my times at Mousehole Chapel Sunday School, and as I got older, times sitting with my Granny & Grandpa George & Miriam Harvey.

Joan, go swiftly into the arms of your beloved husband. United at last & what good times you will have.

It was an honour to have known you. A special Mousehole Woman.

Dear Joan was a true family woman, with incredible recall & a wonderful penchant for writing the most amazing letters to you, completed with fascinating 'postscripts' and more dates. She loved deeply and never forgot her dear husband who passed painfully early. She was bright & interesting & always had time for you. She was very close to being sister in law to my Mother (Heather Harvey) but her engagement with Sydney broke off, and my Mum and Joan always kept in touch. As did me and my sisters, whenever we were down staying at Pilots Cottage, Brook Street, opposite Joan's house and we visited her in the care home at the end of September. Pilots Cottage was named after my Father, who was killed in a helicopter crash in 1984. Joan was an amazing support to Mum, spending time together talking about their 'lost much loved husbands'.

Joan leaves behind a loving family and many friendships and penpals ... someone should collate her letters and produce a social history of Mousehole.

Thank you Joan for the life and love that you shared, you leave a hole never to be filled. A truly unique, generous, genuinely interested and loving individual.
