Sorry to hear this. Mr Richardson was my History teacher at Jarrow. I have fond memories of school discos. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this sad time.

Grandad David will be forever missed. His presence lit up every room he was in and all of us grandchildren would be so excited as soon as it was mentioned that our Grandad David would be at family events. He was full of life and I loved listening to his wonderful stories. Me and my sister grew up listening to his singing and it always provided us so much comfort. He was so supportive in everything we did, whether it be school /uni assignments, ballet shows and watching school musicals. He always gave great advice which I will carry with me forever. I will miss him so much.

I have very fond memories of history lessons with ‘Mr Richardson’ as a pupil at Jarrow Grammar school in the late 60s and early 70s.
And great memories of performance, drama and Irish dancing with him!
This was 40 + years ago but the memories don’t fade as he was such a character with a zest for life.
I’m sure he will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Just remember all the good times ! 🕯

I was very sad to hear the news of David’s passing. I was a pupil of David’s at Jarrow Grammar School in the late 1960s. He was very well like by everyone, and is still famous among ex-pupils for the trips to see his folk band, which were great fun. As I write this I can still see him sitting on the edge of the desk at the front of the class, relaxed and smiling, talking us through whatever topic we were discussing that day. About 30 years ago, maybe more, I saw an advert in The Evening Chronicle for The Richardson Family at a pub on Chillingham Road in Newcastle. I went to the gig, which was great, and afterwards David came up to me and said, “it’s Waters isn’t it?” with a big smile on his face. We chatted for while about Jarrow Grammar, then said good-bye. RIP David, and thanks for being such a great teacher.

David was loved my many people and it’s easy to see why. I only met him a few times in the last 30 years, but he was always friendly and had time for you. I know his family will miss him immensely but his love will help them to overcome the sadness and give them strength in their lives. Love to all who knew David.
