AlanRICHARDSONSadly lost his fight against Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) in the early hours of Friday 10th January passing away peacefully at home.

His career as a history teacher spanned 40 years mainly at Conyers School, Yarm where he was held in high esteem as a real academic inspiring many of his students to succeed and excel during their time at school and also in their own careers. His students' comments have included how he was an:

'Absolute gentleman and wonderful teacher' 'A great teacher and a great man' 'He was an amazing history teacher; he was a legend' 'He was a great man, a great teacher and form tutor' 'He was one of the nicest people you could meet' Alan's twinkling smile and kind and generous personality made him so many friends who admired his positive outlook and sense of humour.

Mr Richardson was my history teacher in the early to mid 90’s.
I often thought about him in my adult life, he was such an amazing teacher.
Back at school I was really interested in history and this was mainly down to Mr Richardson’s ways of teaching, you were a remarkable person, sir.
I always had the upmost respect for you and I will always be thankful for your kind and caring approach to teaching. Although this news was so sad to hear, I would just like to let your family know that you were the most fabulous teacher, one whom I will never forget.
Thank you, Sir.

I was an undiagnosed autistic girl in secondary school, and it was a frightening period of my life. He made me feel safe. I went on to study history because of him. He was my favourite teacher. I won’t forget him.
