How do we say goodbye to a dear friend, colleague and boss. Tony, you were a kind, and decent man who fought hard for those at disadvantage and vulnerable. Your tireless work with homelessness and beyond will never be forgotten. Our ‘Riggers’ our ‘work happy’ days at Homeground. Our boss! We all thought the world of you, you only ever wanted what was best for the residents and staff - we will never forget how hard you fought for our contracts and always found a solution rather than look at the problem. We were the ‘dream team’ my career in care continued on due to your leadership, advice and guidance and steadfast approach to the meaning of care. There are so many memories we have of our years we all worked together and of how proud you were of your wife, and son and will always remember your biggest smile at Sam being in ‘Bluecoat.’ You loved them both so much. We respected you Tony because you respected us and I will never forget yours and our Joan’s words ‘just because they live in a hostel doesn’t mean it cannot be a home - it’s their home and you work in it.’ You cared deeply for those you supported and were their biggest advocate as you were ours. We will remember you with fondness, respect and kindness and will smile always at such a ‘wonderful, work happy time.’ Those times will never come again, we had each others backs and we cared for each-other so very rare in workplaces these days. Deepest condolences to Tracey, Sam, Tony’s family and friends.
God Bless you all - may the healing winds of time heal your broken hearts with wonderful memories and happiness of times together with such a great man. Goodnight God Bless ‘Riggers’ we will love you always. Clare, Karla, Chris, Fran,Pat, Karen, Peter, Fred, Wayne, Gary, Kenko, - your Homeground Team.
xxxxx
