LornaRILEYIt is with sadness we announce the death of Lorna Riley, aged 87. She passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 22 with her family present. She is survived by her sister Carol, niece Adele and great-niece Olivia. A well known figure in the Rossendale valley, she was a member of numerous groups throughout the area. Lorna was a primary school teacher until she took early retirement. Throughout her life she worked tirelessly for Manchester Road Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher, choir member and church warden. She also spent many years helping with the National Children’s Home as a fundraiser. She was also heavily involved in the Girl Guide movement. Her passion for travel took her to many far flung places around the world, and in later years she enjoyed many exotic cruises. The family would like to give their thanks to Hospice at Home, District Nurses and Deedee for their wonderful care.
