GwynROBERTSIn Loving Memory of Gwyn Roberts 1934-2026
Suddenly but peacefully, at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, on 2nd October 2026, Gwyn Roberts, of Valley, passed away at the age of 92. Born in Holyhead to John and Elizabeth Roberts, Gwyn was one of six children and was predeceased by his two brothers and three sisters. Gwyn devoted many years of his working life to British Rail. He began his railway career cleaning the fireboxes of steam locomotives before progressing to stoking the engines with coal. He later became a train driver, driving both steam and diesel locomotives, before eventually taking up the position of Station Inspector at Holyhead Railway Station. Away from the railway, Gwyn found great happiness in life's simple pleasures. He was a keen gardener and had a lifelong love of wildlife, particularly birds and dogs. He valued friendship and companionship dearly and rarely missed his regular Friday coffee catch-ups with his close friends. Gwyn is survived by Rosemary, his beloved wife of 63 years; his children, Gareth and Anna; his daughter-in-law, Ursula, and son-in-law, Gavin; and his cherished grandchildren, Lia, Cari and Lucy, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 20 October at 2.00 p.m at Preswylfa Chapel of Rest, Valley.
Family flowers only, please. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Cancer Research UK in Gwyn's memory per Griffith Roberts & Son, Preswylfa, Valley. Rest in peace, Gwyn. Forever loved, forever missed and forever in our hearts.
