The family sadly announce that Bill died peacefully, surrounded by his family on Saturday evening, 7th June 2025, aged 92 years.
Bill was a devoted husband to Amy, a dearly loved dad to Willie, Derek and Lawrie and amazing father-in-law to Maggie, the late Audrey, Nan and Susan. Dearest Papa to Euan, Lynsey, Arran, Julie and Kirsty. He has 13 great grandchildren too and he loved each and every one.
Bill was something of a super-athlete figure in Perth and was well-known for his goalkeeping, road running, ultra marathon races. He was a seasoned hill walker/climber and Munro- Bagger until well into his eighties. Bill worked as a boiling and heating engineer for Robertson and Hunter. and retired at age 65 from RN Stores. He then worked as a gardener for several years.
A celebration of his life will be held at Perth Crematorium at 12 noon on Wednesday 25th June.
No formal dress code.
Refreshments will be served following the service at the Centenary Suite, McDiarmid Park and the family extend a warm invitation to all to come along and share their own memories and stories of times spent with Bill.
No flowers please but should you wish to make a donation in Bill’s memory a collection will be taken for the Tayside Mountain Rescue following the service.
