Thomas (Known As Peter)ROBINSONIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Father, Mr Thomas Peter Robinson at his home in East Grinstead. He was 86 years young. He was born in Kington, Herefordshire in July 1936 and spent his first seven years living with his Mother’s family, the Bailey’s, before he joined his Dad in Gloucester for his schooling. He lived with his Father, Stanley in Frampton Road and his Dad’s Sister May and their children, Heather and Maureen. After his National Service with the RAF in Hong Kong, he joined Pye as a Radio Engineer. In 1961, he married Joyce Lewis from Balfour Road Gloucester. They moved to Kingswinford initially, before moving onto Pershore in Worcestershire and finally East Grinstead in West Sussex. Peter as he became known, was a very keen and committed Chorister. He was a member of St Stephen’s Church Choir, and joined similar Choirs at each area that he lived. In St Swithun’s Church Choir in East Grinstead and the Michael Hall Choral Society, he would often sing the solo tenor sections. Peter and Joyce Robinson had three children, Nicholas (Nick), Julian and Christopher (Chris). All three attended Halsford Park Primary and then Imberhorne Secondary Schools in East Grinstead. Following Joyce’s passing in 1996, Peter had found love, friendship and a wonderful companion in Sheila. Peter was a very keen Fly-Fisherman latterly and he would often stalk a trout or two in the local lakes, but his passion became trout fishing in Lochinver (Scotland), in the local rivers and Lochs. He made this pilgrimage twice yearly from East Grinstead every year until he died, suddenly in January. His funeral will take place at Worth Crematorium on Thursday 23rd February at 1.30pm. Family and friends who knew Peter, are most welcome to attend. Peter was a colourful character so please wear a colourful tie. No flowers please, but donations are being collected for the RNLI and being organised through our Funeral Directors: Ballard & Shortall (Forest Row - www.cpjfield.co.uk).
