HarryROTHWELLHenry Stephen Rothwell, of Pine Street, Haslingden, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 19, aged 98. A much loved, devoted husband, father, and family man, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Originally from Manchester, he moved to Haslingden from Oldham in 1969 with his late wife Audrey and sons Bruce and Neil, having bought the New Street ‘chippy’, which he held until 1982. In his younger years, Harry was a driver and ground crew in the RAF during the war and a driver/delivery man for ICI, Wilsons Brewery, and Carey Springs, amongst others. He was a lifelong City fan, fisherman and avid camper, going away 12 months of the year until age 84. He leaves behind sons Bruce and Neil, niece Barbara, nephews Arthur and Ian, their partners, grand and great grandchildren, extended family, friends, and carers. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 12, at 3pm at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please, with donations if desired to Prostate Cancer UK or Guide Dogs for the Blind c/o funeral director Wolstenholme Funeral Directors, Accrington.
