MaryROWBOTTOMof Moorhead Care Home, Whalley Road, Accrington, died on Wednesday, October 9, aged 98. Born September 1921 at Crawshaw Street, Accrington, she was educated at Hyndburn Park School. Mary worked as a clerk in the Borough Treasurers Department. She was a housewife, along with being a stallholder in Blackburn covered market selling glass and china. She then became a company director at Ashley Engineering (Accrington) Ltd. Mary enjoyed painting and knitting and played in a netball team at Hyndburn Park School. She was a past secretary and treasurer of Simonstone Gardening Club. A former member of Whalley Golf Club and a past Lady Captain, she was a driver for Meals on Wheels. Wife of the late Leonard Rowbottom, she was mother to John, David and the late Bronwyn, and leaves nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral took place on Tuesday, November 5, at 1pm, at Accrington Crematorium. Donations are requested to the North West Air Ambulance.
