MargaretSANDERSONOf your charity please pray for the repose of the soul of Madge who passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 2, Fortified by the Rites of Holy Mother Church, aged 99. The devoted wife of the late Ted, loving and loved mum of John, Paul and Christine, dear mother-in-law of Lynn and John, cherished grandma of Mark, Karen, Calum, Aidan and Glen, and great-grandma of Kian and Jessica, and also a dearly loved and respected relative and friend to many. Rest In Peace. Born in Ballyjamesduff, Co. Cavan, Ireland, Madge moved to England in 1942, aged 22, to train as a much needed nurse during wartime Britain. In 1949 she married Ted, and their family of three children soon followed. Her working life was spent as a nurse at Calderstones and Brockhall Hospitals until her retirement aged 64. Madge was passionate about her work and devoted her whole life to helping others. She championed the rights of the mentally disabled and was always generous and giving of her time and energies. A devout Catholic, she worked tirelessly for Church causes and was an active member of the Legion of Mary for many years. Holidays for Madge were often spent in her beloved Ireland visiting her family and friends. She was highly respected and loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
