June IsabelSCAMMELL (NEE CAWTHORN)Died peacefully on Sunday, July 19, at Vine House Care Home, aged 94. Loving wife of the late Tommy, she was dearly loved mother of Jill, Elaine, Gayle, Keith, Paul, Karen, Tina, Julie, Tracey, Darren and Gary, cherished grandma to Amanda, Lauraine, Donna, Kim, Tanya, Charlene, Ebony, Eden, Analise, Helen, Stephen, Mark, Arron, Henderson, Marcus, Justin, Jason, Little Jan, Kurt and Liam, and also a devoted great-grandma and friend to many. June was born in West Croydon, Surrey and lived there until the age of 13. When the war started in 1939, June was evacuated to Blackpool where she stayed at her Granny’s boarding house. June loved dancing and found her passion for it from the age of four when her parents sent her to dance school. At 14, June was in the Tower Ballet. Whilst at school June was a hair model for RHO Hills department Store in the school holidays. Upon leaving education June became an apprentice hairdresser in Queen Street, Blackpool where she would often work into the evening. Her time spent dancing at the Winter Gardens always held fond memories for June. June also trained as a shorthand typist, but her heart was always in her performing, she joined a group called the RAF Tapperes where she would perform cabaret and shows for the troops. June met and married her true love Tommy who was in the RAF based in Blackpool. It was then family life began for her with 11 children and 20 grandchildren. Her time was spent surrounded by her loving family; she devoted her time to them as they did her. June will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. A private family funeral service was held. The committal was to be streamed live for all those who could not attend. Flowers are welcome for June’s love of flowers.
