MonaSCHOFIELDaged 96, formerly of Martins Lane, Rochdale sadly passed away, on Sunday 19th April,2020. The much loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by her daughter Pat Blakeley and husband Geoff. Grandchildren, both resident in Australia; Zoe and her husband Scott and great grandson Taj; James and his wife Lucy and great grandchildren Kate and Theo, known to them all as Nana Mona. Mona joined the ATS in 1941, was a life member of the British Legion and WRAC Association. She married three times first to Jack (divorced),then Ken Schofield (widowed) and aged 80 remarried Jack. She worked for many years at TBA where she met Ken, they owned a corner shop on Rothwell street and subsequently returned to TBA where Mona retired as an export clerk. She had been actively involved in the community with St. Clements Church, the WRAC and British Legion, the WRVS, member of crown green bowling teams and retirement clubs and her great love of travel with frequent visits to Australia, she led a full and happy life. Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Passmonds House who cared for Mona in her final days and throughout her stay. A private funeral will take place at Rochdale Crematorium on 13th May.
