DavidSHACKLETONMR David Shackleton, known as Dave, of York Place, Accrington, died on Friday, January 8, aged 55. Born in 1965, Dave attended Hollins School, Accrington. He enjoyed several jobs before becoming landlord of his local pub, The Boars Head, Accrington, a job he was very proud to have taken. After a successful time there he, along with his wife Julie, moved into The Grey Horse Pub, again in Accrington, and remained there until early retirement due to ill health David’s family would like to offer a big thanks to the haematology team at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, to Macmillan nurses, and to the East Lancs Hospital district nurses. Dave really enjoyed many sporting activities, including pool, snooker, darts, dominoes, golf, and was manager of his own 5-a-side football team, ‘Shack Attack’, where they played at Blackburn Rovers in the Sunday League football. David was an avid Liverpool FC fan. Along with his wife he enjoyed many foreign holidays, but his favourite ‘happy place’ was Majorca. David was the dearly loved husband of Julie, devoted dad to Kelly, and precious grandad to Sophie. He was the eldest son of Stella and the late Colin, stepson to David, eldest brother to Tony, Jason and Calum. He was a much loved brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and nephew. He will be sadly missed by all his loving family and his many friends. The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 21, at 9am at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only; donations if desired to Macmillan Cancer Support c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Service.
