EricSHARPWith much sadness we announce the passing of Eric Sharp, who passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on January 18, aged 75.
Eric was a caring, much loved and highly respected family man, leaving behind his wife Carole, sons Daniel and Thomas, grandchildren, Nathan, Ben, Joel and Jacob, great grandchildren Adley, Thea and Hallie, brother Michael and many relatives.
Eric was a longstanding member at Lumb Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon for many years, running the youth club and playing guitar in the worship group as well as local gospel group Branches. He was a man of many interests and enjoyed living a very active life. He was a keen member of Gaghills Bowling Club where he was secretary for many years and was part of a local walking group. He was a keen supporter of Burnley Football Club where he held a season ticket with his brother Michael. He was a regular helper at Rossendale PHAB club along with his wife Carole. He was also a trustee of Lumb Millennium Green where he could often be seen mowing the grass. On leaving school Eric worked at J Hirst, in the costing department, then in the 1970s he set up his own business of E W Sharp Ltd, Footwear Component Manufacturer, where he employed many local people until 2004. He then went on to work for Lancashire County Council as a transport driver until he retired.
Eric was well-respected by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Eric’s life will take place on Friday, January 31 at 1pm, at Lumb Baptist Church, Lumb; immediately followed by interment in the church graveyard. Family and friends are warmly invited to the service and then for afternoon tea at The New Waggoners.
