GeraldSHARPLESPeacefully passed away in hospital on Friday, July 22, Mr Gerald Howard Sharples, aged 90, of Accrington. The loving husband of the late Olwen, much loved father of Karen, dear father-in-law of Ryan, cherished grandad of Cora, Jake and Claudia, and loved brother of David and the late Peter. Gerry spent his working life at GEC, where he was a well respected member of the working team, working his way through the ranks to planning estimator. He was hands-on and loved to spend time tinkering and making things from wood, and over the years he has created the most amazing model trains and boats. He was also a member of Blackburn and District Model Boat Club. At home, Gerry loved to carry out his latest DIY projects, always keeping the family home in tip top condition. Most of all Gerry was a devoted family man who always looked forward to enjoying the company of his family. Gerry’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, at 11.40am, at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please; donations are being received on behalf of Cancer Research c/o funeral director Champ Funeral Services, Clayton-le-Moors.
