You did not give me life,
Yet you shaped the way I live.
With steady hands and patient words,
You had so much to give.
No duty bound you to my side,
No formal name or claim,
Just quiet grace and open arms
Whenever trouble came.
You gave me strength to carry on,
Even when all hope seemed to be gone.
The lessons in life that I have learned
Are from your genuine love and concern.
Through laughter and tears, you stood by my side,
In every moment, your love was my guide.
Sleep well, my dear Gordon, my anchor and friend,
Whose love in my heart will never end
Missing you always and forever
Rest in peace until we meet again
