The obituary notice of Steven SHELLEY

As we leave 2024 behind i a few days
I think of you around this Christmas time
You eagerly waiting to pounce of the hot mince pies and sausage rolls freshly baked . Your Metaxa in hand or testing out the home brew we helped to make .
So many memories

You wasn’t just a step dad
But even before I was a twinkle In my parents eye you knew me my whole life as I had always known you
Growing up you would collect us and take us out on days out and spent time with us.
We never said it but you knew what we were going through as young children and what we had to witness and see

Which is what you said just before you passed you wanted us not to be to damaged.
Unfortunately we were and we all have our scars but I am almost certain you did make a difference to our childhood
What sticks with me more is the fact that you saved me from death when I almost fell from a cliffe edge
Your strong arm grabbing me up
Like a Krane as my hand lost grip on the last blade of grass

You knew again what I would have to face and you just held my hand as you were leaving us .
I wish I had of had it in me or some magic power to have saved you
From leaving us all
But I didn’t I know that we all have had our battles and all our struggles and I’m sad for how things were left when you passed . But I know that there is nothing more i could have done said as you even said .
So as we say goodbye to yet another year and we are all older and wiser
I thank you for all you did for us most of all my mum . We never understand the reasons or the bigger picture but life eventually has a way of showing us .
Thank you Steve for being the dad I needed . Until we meet again xx
