JohnSIMJohn Sim, of Ryton, passed away peacefully in hospital on 7 September 2026, aged 88. Born in London on 28 December 1937 to George and Sarah, John lived a life marked by steady work, warmth, and a lively sense of humour that those around him will long remember.
John worked as a senior technician and was known throughout his life as a hard worker who took pride in what he did. Beyond his work, he was a man who brought lightness to everyday moments. He was funny, a true joker, and had a way of making people smile that came naturally to him. Those closest to him will remember not only his good humour, but also the kindness and dependability that sat quietly behind it.
A devoted family man, John married Margaret, who sadly predeceased him in 2010. He is remembered with love by his daughter Anna, his son-in-law Alistair, and his grandchildren Kris and Charlotte, his brother Gordon and his sister Margaret, his sister-in-law Wendy and brother-in-law Roger. The memories he leaves behind will be held dearly by those who knew and loved him.
John also found pleasure in gardening, a pastime that gave him quiet enjoyment and something beautiful to tend. In the seasons and spaces he cared for, he reflected the same patience and care that shaped so much of his life.
A graveside service will be held at Ryton Cemetery on 1 October 2026 at 10.00am.
John will be remembered with affection, gratitude, and love for the joy he brought into the lives of others.
