JohnSIMMONSJohn sadly passed away on Monday 4th September after a brief fight with cancer.
He was a loving husband to his wife Cathrine; wonderful Dad to Barnaby, Dominic, Alastair and Pippa; and doting Granfer to his seven grandchildren.
John left his mark on the Devon landscape after starting his building design business in 1973. He designed a large number of houses, but was known for his many village halls for communities like Merton, Knowstone, Yelverton, Yarnscombe, and especially Beaford which was commended by the Civic Trust. He even designed the Baptist Church in Westward Ho! which he was particularly proud of.
After his retirement a few years ago, John kept busy by creating a railway model of Farringdon Station in London. He also loved canal holidays and industrial archaeology.
The cremation will be private, but a Celebration of John's Life will be held at a later date, which is as yet to be confirmed.
